The administration of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is moving to revoke the liquor license for the Hyatt Regency Miami over a drag event the hotel hosted in December called “A Drag Queen Christmas,” which a complaint alleges admitted children to the “lewd” and “vulgar” event.
Regulators in the state said they had warned the Hyatt Regency Miami that if it failed to ensure that minors were prohibited from the performance, its liquor license could be rescinded, according to a complaint from Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation that was posted by the Miami Herald and other publications.
The admission policy for the event allowed children under 18 to be admitted with an adult, and the complaint alleges that “children appearing less than 16 years of age” attended the program, which it claims included “performers … wearing sexually suggestive clothing and prosthetic female genitalia.”
This event was clearly not for minors, why is DeSantis so additament about this? Because you have a contingent of people that are forcing their life style on kids under the guise of “story time” in schools and library’s.
In the case of the show above it claims include performers … wearing sexually suggestive clothing and prosthetic female genitalia.
Do you think this proper for a sixteen year old to see.?? You might rationalize that kids can see this on the internet too, plus porn, and violence etc. does it make it right because it is accessible?
Kids today are being exposed to too much too soon. Studies have shown the first eight years is the most critical stage of brain development and builds a foundation for future learning and success and studies have found that adult and teen brains work differently.
Is DeSantis right? Well, here is a part of the law that deem what is harmful to minors
Harmful to minors: means any reproduction, imitation, characterization, description, exhibition, presentation, or representation, of whatever kind or form, depicting nudity, sexual conduct, or sexual excitement when it:
(a) Predominantly appeals to a prurient, shameful, or morbid interest;
(b) Is patently offensive to prevailing standards in the adult community as a whole with respect to what is suitable material or conduct for minors; and
(c) Taken as a whole, is without serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value for minors. See Florida Statutes 847.001
Drag shows are fine, but for adults in a club setting that are eighteen and over.
The age to go to a strip club in Florida is eighteen. Do we start letting kids in at sixteen? Of course not and the same needs to be applied to these drag shows.
